Why No Snack Bags In Recycling Carts

A snack bag showing a layer of foil underneathWondering why snack bags can’t go in our curbside recycling carts? Most are made from mixed materials like plastic and foil, which are tough to separate and recycle. They can also jam equipment, causing delays and safety risks for workers. Plus, snack bags can get mixed in with paper, making sorting harder and contaminating recyclables.

Snack bags should go in your garbage cart.

Remember, when in doubt, it’s better to leave it out of the recycling bin to ensure the quality of the recycling process. Let’s all do our part to recycle right and keep our recycling system running smoothly!
