Caution: Household Batteries

🔋🔥 Household batteries can catch fire, leak chemicals, or explode when placed in your trash or recycling carts. According to a 2021 report by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, there were 245 battery-caused fires at 64 Materials Recovery Facilities.

Let’s prioritize the safety of our workers by ensuring that household batteries are recycled correctly. Avoid potential hazards by recycling them at a Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. In San Bernardino County, our Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facilities are managed by the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Visit https://sbcfire.org/collection or call 1.800.OILY.CAT (645.9228) to locate a collection site near you.
