Do you know how to separate your trash and recyclables correctly? Drag the items below into the correct containers.
Putting the wrong items in your recycling or trash containers can cause big problems at the Material Recovery Facility. Items like trash, clothing and stretchy plastic can get wrapped around equipment and create hazardous working conditions for employees. Dirt, yard waste and food can contaminate otherwise clean recyclables which reduces the quality of the material.
If you have access to a backyard compost, consider putting your wasted food and/or yard waste and dirt there instead.
To avoid putting workers in unsafe conditions and contaminating the recyclables, make sure that you never place these items in your recycling container.
