EC&D: Glass

Image: Empty clean and dry glass bottlesReady to recycle your glass bottles and jars? Great! But before you do, please remember that we need them EMPTY, CLEAN and DRY before you put them in your curbside bin for collection.

Why? Food residue and moisture can contaminate other recyclables in the collection truck or at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) where your recyclables are sorted and then shipped to businesses to be made into new products. Conserve water by rinsing containers in left-over dish washing water. You don’t need to rinse off the soap film.
